Open call – Venice 2025 Art Residency

Studio du Rivage

Studio du Rivage Residency: Open Call for Early-Career Artists

Studio du Rivage is pleased to announce an exciting residency opportunity for early-career contemporary visual artists from around the world.

Located in the iconic city of Venice, this residency offers artists a unique chance to engage with a rich cultural heritage while expanding and nourishing their creative capabilities.

  • Studio du Rivage invites international early-career contemporary visual artists to apply for a unique residency experience in the heart of Venice. This program offers emerging, promising artists a chance for exploration, to discover new avenues for creation, and expand their artistic horizons through their immersion in the vibrant, historic, and culturally rich environment of Venice. Designed for artists who haven’t yet had the opportunity to travel for worldwide residencies and art project, and immerse themselves in new cultural and artistic exchange.
This project takes form as an unpaid but fully funded creative artistic mission/project, of art-making and self-development.

Please, refer to the document resource available for download at the bottom of the page for full information.

  • Our goal is to offer immersive, transfomative, cultural exchanges and enrichment to passionate, young, early-career artists, as a memorable experience and hopefully a key stepping stone within their journey of self-development and growth. Our mission, to create a space where art as an expression of the soul thrives, and where each artist can deepen their practice, broaden their horizons, and return home with a renewed sense of purpose and inspiration.

As a selected artist, you are expected and heavily encouraged to actively engage with the project’s raison d’être for the entirety of its duration, taking in the most from this opportunity.

Your goal is also to produce at least one artwork during your time in the city, which then will be proposed to a gallery, art shop, or other, with the objective of it being displayed within the city of Venice.

  • Studio du Rivage proposes an open-ended, individual theme, in collaboration with the artist’s suggestion and inspiration, subject to validation by Studio du Rivage’s staff.
This approach allows the artist to propose a concept or area of research they wish to explore during the residency, allowing the artist’s vision to develop organically during their time with us.

  • Once an artist is selected and a theme is set, besides the already planned cultural and artistic activities within the city, we will be contacting local galleries, artists, and art professionals to see if they will be interested in collaborating with them.

As for the already planned activities, we shall be at the very least visiting Gallerie dell’Accademia, Ca’Pesaro International Gallery of Modern Art, and going on a factory/workshop tour on Murano island to witness the mythical, ancestral art of the Maestri vetrai, master glassmakers, and experience watching live their millenium-old glassblowing techniques.

    • Single room independent accommodation in a Venice residence or hotel, fully funded and pre-reserved. Breakfast might or might not be included.

    • Economy return flights from the artist’s home country to Venice.
    • All visa costs and support with the visa application process.
    • Daily stipend of 45€ to cover living cost expenses in Venice, as per the financial resources required for admission to Italy.
    • An on-site materials budget of up to 350€.
    • Any additional project-related transports used. This includes boats (vaporetto), buses, and any necessary means of transport through the city.
    • Access to working space rental on demand of the artist.
    • Networking opportunities and at least one individual studio visit with other artists, curators and arts professionals.

    • Paid visits to cultural places and museums, including Gallerie dell’Accademia and Ca’Pesaro International Gallery of Modern Art.
    • Administrative, counseling, navigating support throughout the project

    • Travel insurance coverage of at least 30 000€.
